18th Bike Ride
The more stalwarth of our younger members rode 34 miles
along the B&A trail. This trail is 13.3 miles of linear park from
Annapolis to Baltimore. It is a classic example of a rail to trail
project. The 66-foot wide corridor was purchased
for just $80,000. From 1985 to 1990 Anne Arundel County spent
$9 million dollars to pave 13.3 miles of trail, erect five new bridges
and restore two historic buildings. The weather
was perfect for the ride. Riders reported the best part of the ride
was the tour through the Naval Academy and into Annapolis for lunch.
